Since March 2019, Mungo has pledged 1% of its annual turnover to initiatives that benefit the Plettenberg Bay area, where our mill and production are based.
MOVE Principles
Inspired by B-Corp principles, MOVE supports a triple bottom line: supporting people, protecting the planet, and fostering sustainable profit.
Focusing primarily on the greater Plettenberg Bay area and its surroundings, MOVE aims to donate 1% of its profits to initiatives that promote environmental conservation, support education, and protect and empower vulnerable people and communities.
Mungo staff members form part of the MOVE committee, where we address community needs to drive lasting change in our workplace and broader communities.
We provide life skills training, internal workshops to the broader Mungo team, and opportunities to engage in social and environmental development projects. These include gardening workshops, sewing workshops, and life skills training, with the goal to extend these skills to the greater community.
MOVE Projects
The Mungo Swim Club
Raised through the Swim Club for Environmental and Social Developments since 2021.

Since 2021, Mungo has hosted an annual 5-day Swim Challenge across various locations in the Garden Route and Cape Town, supporting Ocean Conservation and Social Development.
The concept is simple: take an early morning dip each day for five consecutive days, wrapping it up on the final day with a Mungo towel.
By 2025, we’ve raised R375 700 for various NGOs through our Swim Clubs and the Winter Solstice Swim which we hosted in 2024.
Past beneficiaries include Waves for Change, I AM WATER Foundation, Cultural Connections, Natures Valley Trust, and Adopt A Swimmer.

The Kids of Kurland Kikoi Project
Raised through the Kids of Kurland Kikoi Project for teachers at the Crags Primary School since 2021.
Each year, we welcome a class from The Crags Primary School to the Mungo Mill for a behind-the-scenes tour and a hands-on textile design workshop.
Under the guidance of our team, every student creates their own unique kikoi design. These designs are then shared with our community and online audience, who vote for their favourite. The winning design is brought to life on our looms, and 100% of the proceeds from its sales go directly to supporting the an additional teacher at the Crags Primary School.
